👩🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions
The Dough (Hamur): In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the egg and warm water. Knead into a smooth, stiff dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
The Filling (İç Harç): In another bowl, combine the ground beef, grated (and squeezed) onion, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Rolling & Cutting: Divide the rested dough into two or three balls. Roll out each ball thinly on a floured surface. Cut the dough into small squares (about 2cm x 2cm).
Stuffing & Shaping: Place a tiny dollop of the beef filling into the center of each square. Pinch the four corners together to create tiny bundles (or fold in half diagonally and pinch the edges for triangular shape).
Boiling: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Gently add the Mantı and cook on medium heat until they float to the surface (approx. 5-7 minutes).
The Garlic Yogurt Sauce: While the Mantı is boiling, whisk together strained yogurt, minced garlic, and salt until smooth.
The Sizzling Butter Sauce: Melt butter in a small pan. Add red pepper flakes and dried mint, sizzling for about 30 seconds.
Assembly: Drain the boiled Mantı. Place them in a serving bowl. Pour the garlic yogurt sauce over the hot dumplings. Finish by drizzling the sizzling butter sauce. Garnish with more sumac and mint.
💡 Pro Tip for "Easy" Mantı
For a faster version, you can prepare larger triangular dumplings rather than the traditional smaller square bundles. They boil much faster and are easier to assemble, perfect for a busy weekday meal!
